Two centres, now one
S Technologies ran two independent research centres for a decade. On August 14, 2026 they were merged, because the questions had stopped dividing along the line between them.
S Web Research Center
SWRC
The first centre. Web frameworks, template engines, developer tooling, and the publishing platforms built on top of them.
S AI Research Center
SAIRC
The second. Machine learning and deep learning models trained for real, narrow problems — conversation, classification, and prediction.
S Technologies Research Center
STRC
One centre carrying both. A Bengali programming language needs a compiler and a language model; a fish-stock forecast needs a web application to be used at all. Splitting that across two centres had become the harder way to do it.
What the centre is for
Four things that were true of both founding centres and are written into this one.
Independent of the service side
The centre does not report to the part of the company that bills clients, so the questions it takes on are not limited to what a client has already asked for. That independence is the whole reason a research centre is a separate thing at all.
Published, with the source
What survives the process is released openly, documented, and then kept — updated and supported for as long as people depend on it. A result nobody can read or check is not a result.
Bengali is a first-class language
Programming in Bengali rather than English, and computing that reads and writes it properly, is a standing line of work here — not a localisation task bolted onto something finished.
Narrow problems over benchmarks
Models and libraries are built for a problem somebody actually has, small enough to run where our clients already are. We would rather be useful on one thing than competitive on a leaderboard.
How we got here
Thirteen years, two centres, one merger.
- August 14, 2013
S Technologies founded as a research company
S Technologies was launched in Bangladesh as a research-based technology company — research first, products out of it.
- June 16, 2016
S Web Research Center opened
The company opened its first independent research centre, for researching and developing web related technologies.
- August 14, 2019
S AI Research Center opened
A second independent centre, for artificial intelligence — machine learning, deep learning, and the language work that came with it.
- August 14, 2026
The two centres merged into S Technologies Research Center
SWRC and SAIRC were merged into a single, independent centre. Nothing was shut down and nothing was abandoned: the same people carry the same work on, in one team.
Bring us a question
If there is something you need answered before you can build it, tell us what it is. We will say plainly whether it is a study, a product, or something already solved.
